ISAFRUIT: Increasing fruit consumption through a trans-disciplinary approach delivering high quality produce from environmentally friendly, sustainable production methods

The strategic objective of ISAFRUIT has been to increase fruit consumption, searching the improvement of health and well-being of Europeans and their environment, by taking a total chain approach, identifying the bottlenecks and addressing them by consumer driven preferences. Sustainable chain management and production methods including organic production have been addressed by a number of work packages dealing with the post-harvest and pre-harvest quality of the fruit in the supply chain stimulating the availability of a wider range of fruit and fruit products from sustainable European production on the market.
